Samhain was dumped at a rural, southern high-kill shelter on a week with sub-freezing temperatures. After months of neglect and starvation causing horrible after-effects physically and emotionally he was just skin and bones at less than half his suggested weight. With no cruelty charges brought upon the owner, Do-Good Dog Rescue immediately jumped into action to save this boy. Samhain was hospitalized requiring much medical care for his neglect and starvation, he also required removal of a cherry eye. After three weeks of intensive care at a veterinary clinic he was finally stable enough for an intensive medical foster home. One small dilemma remained, the most experienced intensive medical foster home was over 500 miles away and a holiday weekend was fast approaching.
Making it to his intensive medical foster home took careful planning and coordination between the foster home and rescue.Today Samhain weighs 10 pounds, was happily adopted by his foster family and sunbathes with his many canine siblings and posts his adventures online.
Annebelle was an old senior beagle surrendered for unknown reasons by her previous owners. Do Good Dog Rescue had stopped by the shelter housing her for another dog and needed to test dog reactivity. The housing shelter brought Annebelle out and begged Do Good Dog Rescue to take her in addition. It was an easy decision for Do Good and after a dental exam and a few teeth pulling she quickly found her way into the hearts of her forever family. Today she spends most of her day sleeping in the dog bed, sunbathing and when the occasional “zoomies” take over everyone laughs as she empties her toy box and chases tennis balls around the house.
